It is really not that difficult to start with. Everytime i talk to a kurd, they either try to ridicule me or to they tell me how difficult it is. The most important factor in my opnion is to know what kind of weapons we need and want. Then we could proceed with the development build part by part in a step by step mode. For exemple. We kurds have a lot of T 62 tanks. What we can do is to study the tank and then build a totally new tank on the basis of the T 62 wich would be not comparable with the recent designs but would give us enough capacities to deter our enemies. It would neutralize the weaknesses of the T-62 low speed of the tank, resulting from a low power to weight ratio of the tank. No installation of a turret engine. Wrong placement of the ammunition. low evalation of the main gun. We could build a longer hull based on the hully of the t 62, the new hull would be 80 cm longer, we could build the additional road wheels and the chain parts by our own. The new hull would be longer, but it would allow us to integrate a stronger engine and new gearbox. The procurement of a new engine and a gear box would be a difficult task, but it would be easier then buying a new weapon system. We would retain the bearing diameter of the T 62 but redesign a new wieled box shaped turret that could integrate a new gun and incorperate the newest tank armor technolgy. composite armor elements made of tungsten carbide or silicone oxide are inserted in a bulge between the inner armor plate and and an outer plate. The procuremtnt of the material or the development of these materials is possibe. This armor concepts works differently from steel armor, thats why you need a box shaped turret. It aint that difficult to harden steel or to produce rha steel and to design a box shaped turret for the crew to allow the insertation of new armor combinations and the integration of a new gun. I mean we could just use the main gun of the T 72 tank in a new turret. The new turret would allow for a higher elevation of the gun. The ammunition could be stored in an ammunition bunker, using the same arrangement as the M1 Abrams tank. And we could also install a turret engine to raise the speed of the turret. We could also install a secondary armament system to fight against air craft, all we have to do, is to install a smaller turret using a 23 mm aircraft gun and two to four SA-7 rockets. The M60 tank had a similar turret. the only problems left are the electronics but again, they are easier to smuggle and potential sellers from eastern europe, western europe, soth east asia or Israel would be more willing to sell them and then a completely new tank. One plane load could provide us with enough electronics for 60 tanks while it could only transport one tank. As far as i know, we have right now two steel plants, use them to build steel components we need, muster the technology to harden steel or to produce rha stell, the rest of the workk is just wielding and cuttng or miling. We would only need to import the engine and the gearbox. The composite armor materials. The main gun tube and the electronics and of course the ammunition. But its possible and ia m sure that we would field this kind tank upgrade in six months, provied we get the parts. |
