As I said a couple of weeks ago. This f**king Americans will make us a lot trouble. They are even more against Kurdish independence than the Turks, lol.
Just pathetic.

As Iraq Reels, Kurdistan Sounds Out US on Independence

By RUDAW 3 hours ago

WASHINGTON DC – As Iraq’s autonomous Kurds brace for a referendum and possible split from the rest of the country, Erbil has embarked on a global diplomacy to sound opinion on the issue of Kurdish independence.

“We spoke with the Americans about self-determination, and self-determination is done through a referendum,” Fuad Hussein, the Kurdistan president’s chief of staff, told Rudaw on Thursday. “It is something that the people of Kurdistan will decide.”

Hussein was on an official visit to the US capital with Foreign Relations Minister Falah Mustafa to meet with American counterparts.

US Secretary of State John Kerry was in Erbil more than a fortnight ago, where he asked the Kurds to stay with a united Iraq and help Baghdad establish an inclusive government.

However, according to Mustafa, the American tone is now different in some of the meetings.

“Those kinds of statements have always been there,” Mustafa told Rudaw in Washington, referring to a comment by the State Department spokeswoman, who said that America prefers a united Iraq.

“But what is important is the content,” Mustafa said. “Not only in America, but in many other countries, in Europe, in Arab countries and the international community there has been a change that is more welcoming to the South Kurdistan.”

During their visit the Kurdish diplomats met with the initial mastermind of Iraq’s three-state solution, former US vice president Joe Biden.

“Fruitful discussions with our longtime friend, vice president Biden,” said Mustafa in a tweet on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, South Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani officially broke the ice when he asked the Kurdish parliament in Erbil to set a date for an independence referendum.

“We waited 10 years and the situation got only worse,” Barzani told Kurdish lawmakers about Kurdistan’s participation in Iraqi politics. “We have to think of ourselves and our future.”

“We have to decide for ourselves and not wait for others to do so on our behalf,” he said.

Barzani’s chief of staff, Hussein, has been talking to foreign officials and the world media on the Kurdish decision for a referendum on the future of the autonomous region.

“The people of Kurdistan will decide and everyone will respect what they choose,” said Hussein.

“Iraq is not one Iraq anymore,” he told BBC America during his visit. “We now have three states in one.”

Just like the break up of Yugoslavia, "national" meetings are being boycotted by the minorities. And just like the majority Serbs in the last true (with all sides represented) communist party congress "mocked" and down-voted the Slovenes on everything, the Iraqis mocked and insulted the Kurds in the last parliament meeting. Many said Slovenia would not be able to survive without Yugoslavia (despite having the highest living standards in Yugoslavia), many say Kurdistan won't be able to survive without Iraq (despite also having the highest living standards in Iraq). After many threats from Belgrade, the Slovenes held a referendum and declared independence...history does not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme ;)

Your forgetting one thing, the Serbs then went on a rampage and started massacring Bosniaks and Kosovan Alabanians. Lets hope IA or ISIS don't do such things.

The whole debate comes so suddenly that it almost appears like the PYD is trying to give the fault for the defeat to PDK. So if ISIS is "controlled by PDK", It is PDK destroying Rojava. This seems like the message.

I hate this party bullcrap.

Instead of asking help and working together. And to hell with the whole World. I see since days "Free Palestine", nonsense. Not a single word about Kurds.

I hate parties bullcraps, too. Maybe one day they will work together. Let's hope. I think Rojava is waiting for Peshmerga support.

maybe I will be an anrachist. Kurdistan and the whole world without parties. I like this idea.

Kurdish President Chief of Staff: Erbil and Baghdad are Two Different States

Posted Image

03.07.2014
BasNews, Washington

Chief of Staff of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Fuad Hussein, recently made statements claiming Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki’s reign is over and that Iraq is running out of army personnel and weapons.

On Thursday, Hussein visited Washington and met with the US Department of State and the US National Security Council where he stated: ’If I were Maliki, I would have gone to parliament and apologized to the people for not being able to manage the country, and then I would have left.’

He then said that South Kurdistan is no longer the neighbor of Baghdad. “Between Erbil and Baghdad, we behave as two different states,” said Hussein.

He did not answer whether Iran is fighting against the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) militants, but mentioned we diligently need to be aware of their presence within the region. Hussein suggested that the Iranian army ’fight to protect Baghdad and the Samara provinces [where many Shia shrines are located), not to protect Iraq.’

He asked the US to facilitate the South Kurdistan’s oil export, hoping their support will help the seven million people in Kurdistan who need the oil to survive.

Hussein also mentioned that it is critical for Baghdad to establish a new political body, but this seems to be impossible in the current situation.

’Today, Iraq is without an army because eighty percent of the Iraqi Army and Shiite militants failed to protect the country,’ he concluded.

Senior KDP Official: Kurdish Parties have previously discussed Independence with Barzani

03.07.2014
Hoshmand Sadiq

The Head of Foreign Relations for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Hemin Hawrami stated that Kurdistan Regional President Massoud Barzani had previously spoken with the various Kurdish political parties about the content of the speech he gave in Kurdistan’s Parliament.

On Thursday, Barzani presented a speech to the Kurdish Parliament requesting a referendum to decide Kurdish independence, stating that Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution is complete and will soon be implemented.

He also mentioned that Kurdish Peshmarga forces would not withdraw from the disputed regions.

Hawrami told BasNews that all the points Barzani touched in his speech to parliament had previously been discussed between Barzani and other Kurdish political parties.

Hawrami assured that all parties were in support of Barzani’s points.

Kirkuk Governor and Member of Kurdistan Patriotic Union (PUK) Politic Bureau Najmadin Karim recently stated that article 140 is not finished yet and should not be treated in the way that Barzani mentioned.

’PUK has officially announced that they give their full support to Barzani alongside the Kurdish consensus,’ said Hawrami.

Kurdish independence has become a hot topic around the world, after the recent attacks of Islamic State in Iraq and Sham (ISIS) fighters against Iraqi army and its subsequent withdrawal in disputed regions and the arrival of Peshmerga forces in the area.

Nope we didn't forget that. Saddam did go on rampage on Kurds, it was just more than a decade between these two things. So everything what happened in Yugoslavia happened to us too.
