I do not know whether Kurdistan wants to permanently control Mosul. We dont want more Arabs in Kurdistan, however in order to get rid of ISIS we need to destroy their breeding nest, which is currently in Kurdistans back yard. We could probably strike a deal with the Iraqis when we liberate Mosul for Mandali for example. Iraq is not aiding the Kurds.Maliki is trying to save face since the attack by ISIS on the Kurds as he withheld money and arms. Plus he does not want the Kurds to acquire advanced weapons, now that the US has stayed that they will look into our request. He wants to show that it's unnecessary.
