Just heard from Mirava news that Salih Muslim confirmed that he has spoken to Berzani about a possible alliance.

Does someone have a map of what the Rojava government considers its territory? Is this accurate?

I'm not sure but it seems to me YPG has lost a couple of villages in Kobane since the last time I saw that map. On a positive note, it looks like our revolutionaries around Serekaniye are advancing west to, I presume, attach the cantons together. I think Efrin canton is the safest of them all for now.
Indeed, heval. Efrin has natural barriers against invasions as well. It is easily visible that YPG has taken this into consideration by looking at the areas they have captured. I don't expect them to advance more south now (I predicted YPG to not advance further south than the areas they currently control last year).I only wish they had control over Minakh air base as well. It is of high strategic importance for the defense of Efrins airspace (Both reducing SAF offensive capabilities and possibly increasing our defensive capabilities. we talked about it a while ago; http://w11.zetaboards.com/Kurdistanskyscrapers/topic/9031514/318/ )

İHD: ISIS Using Turkey As Logistical Base

A new report from the Human Rights Association (İHD) asserts that the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) and other radical groups are using Turkey as a logistical base from which to carry out their war in Syria, according to an article from DİHA carried by Özgür Gündem. Among the report’s major claims is that the Karkamış Refugee Camp located near the Karkamış Reservoir is being used as an ISIS training center.

The report is to be released by the İHD’s general directorate and was compiled by an İHD committee which traveled to Turkey’s border with Rojava in order to observe and better understand the situation. The report points to the revolution that has taken place in Rojava under the direction of Kurds and other peoples and highlighted its historical importance. The report also stresses how ISIS gangs have attempted to destroy the revolution on the eve of its secondary anniversary, reading “the attacks against Rojava by al-Qaeda, al-Nusra are attacks directed at breaking the Rojava Revolution and peoples’ self-government.” It also accused such groups of using Turkey as a logistical base and of having carried out various attacks from its soil.

Protest Camp Attacked By Police To Make ISIS Passage Easier

The report recalled the resistance in the district of Birecik, where the İHD committee visited the village of Ziyaret and the nearby camp set up to protest Turkey’s support of armed groups in Rojava. It drew a connection between the Turkish army’s decision to demolish the protest camp and the ISIS camp in Karkamış, saying “according to claims this camp is used as a logistical base for ISIS militants. They use this camp to attack the Kobanê Canton of Rojava through Turkey and therefore the HDP-DBP delegations which wanted to set up a protest camp in the region were violently assaulted by the army – who by burning their tents, destroying their vehicles, using large amounts of tear gas and plastic bullets, and throwing around their personal possessions wanted to create a large amount of fear and drive them from the area. In fact when we saw the area that the wanted to set up their tents there was a hill from which one could see the entire region and the Karamış Refugee Camp in particular and all movements could be seen as plain as day. Turkey is constantly attacking protest camps on the border in order to prevent anyone from seeing the passage of jihad groups like ISIS across the border. There is no other explanation. The details of this visit along with observations and conclusions will be included in the final report.”

Turkish Officials May Be Held Accountable In The Future

“In conclusion” the reports reads “there is action to be taken as regards the trial of war crimes directed against Rojava by jihadi groups on the Turkish-Rojava border which cannot be ignored. We are once again warning all those officials who ignore or support these actions.” The report goes on to suggest that such officials could face prosecution at a future international war crimes tribunal over Syria.

Is it Time for Rojava and Kurdistan to Unite against Common Enemy?

LONDON - Whilst the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) was propelled into the limelight in spectacular manner in Iraq, controlling Mosul, Tikrit and large swathes of territory across Iraq, for the Kurds of Syria their deadly battles with the al-Qaeda offshoot over the past year or so have largely failed to make headlines.

The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) has ubiquitously engaged in furious battles against IS militiamen across the areas in Syria under Kurdish control. Those Kurdish areas are of strategic importance, as they straddle the Turkish border -- and with it some of the most vital border crossings -- and are home to some of Syria’s largest oil fields.

Conversely, the battle of the Peshmerga forces in Iraq has been well noted, as they have formed a formidable frontier against IS rebels, all but saving Kirkuk and many other cities from falling to the IS, which recently changed its name from Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

In the same manner as the Peshmerga, the YPG should be acknowledged for its vital role in keeping IS at bay in Syria.

Fresh from their gains in Iraq, a buoyant IS has returned to Syria with a new onslaught on Kobane and other Kurdish towns and villages. However, this time the goalposts have shifted. Armed with significant booty from their Iraq conquests, including Humvees, tanks and artillery -- not to mention millions of dollars in funds – IS quickly shifted their guns to the Syrian Kurds once more.

According to Jabar Yawar, secretary general of the Peshmerga ministry, “ISIS has different types of rockets, tanks and other heavy weaponry that they got from the Iraqi army and now they use these weapons to attack Kobane.”

Faced with a barrage of attacks on Kobane from different sides, Kurdish forces have fervently confronted IS forces; but they will ultimately struggle under inferior firepower. The co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Salih Muslim, warned that IS now possesses “heavy weaponry like mortars and tanks, which concerns our forces. We can’t use our weapons against their bulletproof tanks.”

Furthermore, Syrian Kurds have complained at lack of humanitarian aid over the past couple of years and have been hampered under the cautious eyes of Ankara. YPG spokesperson Redur Xalil called on the international community to "intervene immediately and carry out their duty toward Kobane."

The Syrian Kurds freed themselves from decades of tyranny and repression and announced self-rule across three cantons. But lack of political unity between the main PYD party and other political parties threaten the existence of the administration in the midst of increasing danger.

The situation has not been helped with lukewarm relations between the PYD and the South Kurdistan leadership.

There could be no better time for the Kurds to unite and protect the Kurdish population in Syria and also preserve hard-fought Kurdish self-rule. IS is not just an internal matter for the Syrian Kurds: What happens there is very much a problem for the KRG Kurds.

Because if Kobane and other major Kurdish cities fall, the IS gets even stronger. That is not good for Erbil, which is also somewhere on the IS priority list of enemies to annul.

For Abdul-Salam Ahmed, co-chair of PYD, Kobane was effectively becoming a factor to “the end of the Sykes-Picot agreement,” the 1916 pact by which the powers of the time redrew the Ottoman Empire borders, essentially dividing the Kurds in the process. Whilst rallying Kurdish unity, Kurdish veteran politician Ahmet Turk emphasized that there is no difference between Kobane and Kirkuk.

PYD head Muslim warned that the unity of the three cantons and ultimately the Syrian Kurdish autonomous region itself depends on Kobane, which he labeled as the “symbol of the Kurds’ identity and resistance.” He urged Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani to join a common struggle against the Islamic militants, claiming that Barzani "had not fully grasped the nature of ISIS."

Whilst the South Kurdistan edges towards independence, the importance of a stable, secure and prosperous South Kurdistan of Syria as a key neighbor cannot be discounted.

To this effect, the Syrian Kurds, who have already imposed compulsory military service, have tried to rally Kurds in Iraq and particularly Turkey. Gharib Haso, an official from the PYD, claimed that “Young Kurds from all parts of Kurdistan are going to Syria.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights director Rami Abdul Rahman stated that at least 800 Kurdish fighters had crossed the Turkish border into Syria to join the battle.

“It’s a life-or-death battle for the Kurds. If ISIS takes Ayn al Arab (Kobane), it will advance eastwards toward other Kurdish Syrian areas, such as Hasakah in the northeast,” he warned.

The ultimate success of greater Kurdistan rests with all its four parts. There is no better place to start than with a political alliance amongst Kurdish parties in Syria and the fostering of better ties between the Rojava administration and the South Kurdistan

What does the three (blue, red and white) colors in the stars represent? Minorities/Assyrians (as those are the same colors as the Assyrian waves)?

I first thought each stars represent a kanton, but having think about it further it could be very well Kurdish, Syriacs and Arabs. how many syriacs live in efrin though? it shouldn't be mixed as much as Cizire. it is most likely something refers to peace, equallity and freedom. Rest of the flag is clear I guess.

Its for the 3 Kurdish districts of Efrin
I don't think so, 3 cantons or Peace, Equallity, Freedom make the most sense. FWIW Efrîn is 7 districts.

A Turkish revolutionist in Kobanê

KOBANÊ- Hundreds of youth joined YPG and YPJ to fight ISIS that is supported by international powers and intensified its attacks Kobanê since last month. In addition to the Kurdish young population, there are also many people from Turkish, Arab, Armenian and Alevi community responding to the YPG's call for mobilization. One of them is Ciwan Tirko. In his interview with Dicle News Agency, Tirko is a member of Turkish community and has been involved in politics since age of 15 and also attended the Gezi Parkı protests in Istanbul.

Tirko criticizes Turkish revolutionary movements for keeping silent about the developments and attacks in Rojava and stated that those who are responsible for Roboskî Massacre, children of Saturday Mothers and many more killings in Turkey and Kurdistan could not be questioned. Regarding his support to YPG forces, Tirko said the following:

"I am proud of being here as a Turks"

"During Gezi Protests, Ali İsmail Korkmaz, Ethem Sarısülük, Berkin Elvan were killed by the police and we could not do anything against this. Whenever we tried to do, we were attacked by the fascist state. I am a conscientious person. I am here to fight against this. It has been a long time that I follow the developments in Rojava. I realized that Kurds are being suppressed in many ways. Exploitation and oppression have never stopped. We also saw how Turkey supports ISIS to remove people in Rojava, Kurdistan. I came here with my honor, with my Turkish identity. If we do not resist with our comrades in Rojava, tomorrow ISIS and its supporters will attack us, too. There are lots of comrades. We, as Kurds, Arabs, Alevis, Sunni and Armenians, will fight imperialism and ISIS that is an outcome of capitalism. We wll fight for our freedom, peace and brotherhood and sisterhood of people."

Tirko came to Kobanê a short time ago. He says "We follow a commun life here. We are among the people and learn sharing. We reinforce love and respect here. We live socialism and I am in the world I was imaging.I am very to happy to be here. I invite all people who defend people's brotherhood to Rojava."

Rojava accounted for 75% of Syria's money. This is the primary reason Bashar and his father Haafez didn't start a persecution like Saddam, they feared a revolution which would doom the rest of Syria.

When the war is over, if they succeed connecting all cantons then we are problem free, if not we are in trouble as much of what you mention is between the cantons, exception oil

PKK must learn from veteran Peshmerga. Foreigners were never allowed into their ranks, and if they somehow succeeded to join they had no rankings, they were only targets in frontlines for our enemies.

Peshmerga saw them as invisible foreigners, for example, a Shia Iraqi joined but he was always by himself, they cursed 24/7 at Arabs even in front of him

We live socialism and I am in the world I was imaging.I am very to happy to be here. I invite all people who defend people's brotherhood to Rojava."

The PKK is for everyone in Bakur and we still need the support. We support the armenians, syriac, azeri and arab etc.

Go and tell the PKK. :D
The PKK is for Kurds. If it is for Bakur, then go tell them to stop asking for help from the rest of Kurdistan. We don't need foreigners' support. We don't need to support them, only our own people. As long as we have the mentality of "needing" the help from foreigners, Kurdistan won't be a reality. SK is becoming reality because we depend only on our own people, not on Iraqis.

Anyway, I hope PDK-T takes over. PKK's policy is dangerous for Kurdistan, and the survival of Kurdish ethnicity. They already denied SK independence (really shameful, and I feel foolish for even following them in the past. Someone on this forum warned me, I should have listened...), which I see as an insult to all Kurds, all Kurdish shehids who think they fought for Kurdistan in PKK and the shehids in SK fighting and fought for Kurdistan, and especially SKis as they have done the most to liberate Kurdistan.

PKK should be happy SK even opened the border to you, so you won't die out.

Mustafa Juma: Syrian Opposition Accepts Kurdish Rights

Mustafa Juma: ‘Our Peshmergas have been trained in South Kurdistan and we will soon be stronger than the PYD.’

Mustafa Juma, a politburo member of the new Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDPS), says that the Syrian opposition accepts Kurdish rights after the fall of Bashar al-Assad. Juma, who was the leader of the Syrian Kurdish Azadi (freedom) party until it merged into the KDPS with three other groups in April, claims that KDPS has thousands of trained fighters, and “soon will be stronger” than the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the dominant force in Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan). The KDPS, comprised of parties known for their links to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in South Kurdistan, was formed as a united front in the Syrian war. Juma spoke to Rudaw in Denmark, where he came to appeal for European support and medical aid. Here is an edited transcript of his interview:

You can't answer this mate, there is nothing that can protect Jashi statements. PKK denied SK independence, there is nothing more shameful than that. Go live with your Turkish, Armenian, and Arabic friends, together you will free Kurdistan, not with your people.

That logic dohdoh. Kurdistan= KFKFKF:waveflag::waveflag::waveflag:

PKK ideology (anti-Kurdistan)= NWKFNWKFNWKFNWKF
