Will they unite as one one day?

KRSC says 3 detained in connection with IS suicide bomb attack

Posted Image

KIRKUK — The Kurdistan Region’s Security Council (KRSC) released an announcement on Thursday (April 7) saying they had detained three Islamic State (IS) members in Kirkuk, including the organizers and ringleaders of a suicide bomb attack.

The KRSC says the IS members were connected with the suicide bomb attack conducted against Peshmerga forces in western Kirkuk last month on March 12.

“An IS sleeper cell was uncovered,” the KRSC said in a press release. “The three militants were named Shakir Nasr al-Din Qrish (also known as Abu Osama and Abu Othman), Ibrahim Mahmoud Asaad (also known as Abu Khalil) and Mehand Nasr al-Din Qrish.”

Militants launched a large-scale attack on Peshmerga southwest of Kirkuk on March 12, sending five suicide bombers towards Kurdish forces. One Peshmerga was killed in the attack and three others were wounded.

Counter-terrorism forces have had success in recent days in arresting key IS militants. The KRSC said on March 31 that counter-terrorism forces had detained a senior IS member in western Kirkuk.

The KRSC released a statement on its Facebook page saying the Department of Counter-Terrorism forces arrested Malik Rif’at Khalaf Jedou in a special operation in the area between Kirkuk and Hawija on Tuesday (March 29).

"Jedou was a well-known Daesh [IS] member and was responsible for acts of terrorism in Kirkuk and west of Kirkuk,” the statement said.

Peshmerga forces repelled the IS attack at the frontline near Kirkuk, resulting in six Peshmerga sustaining injuries and the death of one.

Speaking on NRT’s Panorama program on March 12, Peshmerga Ministry Chief of Staff Jabbar Yawar said 1,400 Peshmerga have been killed and another 8,262 wounded in the fight against IS in KRG.

American heli.
Some of our elite troops trained and participated in air assaults using American helicopters during the Iraq war (Our forces lost a lot of their capability when the US withdrew). Thus, they already know the American choppers well and that is why KRG was so keen on persuading US to deploy some of these aircraft to KRG when IS attacked. This is probably one of those choppers.
The army is the true nobility of a nation

Never plan on the thoughts of others, but on their capabilities

One indivisible and sovereign Kurdish nation for all Kurds!

Chase all al nusra and Daash terrorists out of Kurdistan!! Her biji YPG u Peshmerga!

26 people arrested in Kirkuk

Hewlêr, Kurdistan Region - At least 26 people were arrested over the course of the last 12 days near Kirkuk province, a security official told Rudaw on Tuesday.

“12 of those who are arrested were previously wanted for links to terrorism,” Smko Hama, the spokesman of Kirkuk security forces (Asaish), said in a press conference.

“A band of 8 people were also arrested on the charge of drug trafficking,” Hama added.

Hama added that another four were arrested for stealing $24,000 and gold from a house.

Two other people were also arrested on charge of spreading violent activities.

Kirkuk's police have already broken up several Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells which have carried out terror attacks and abducted civilians.

Kurdish Peshmerga forces and police maintain miles of defensive lines south of Kirkuk and have successfully foiled several ISIS attempts to attack the city.
