we can agree on one thing, he didn't play for the Turks and that's good enough regardless of his ethnicity

özil is far away from looking kurdish but according to this fan page:http://www.mesut-ozil.net/mesut/facts/
"Özil is a a third-generation Turkish-German, of Kurdish descent. His father Mustafa, moved to Germany at the age of 2 and his ancestors are from Northern Turkey."
To be honest his look is pretty damn Kurdish especially around Gurgum and around you can find his look.

Quoting limited to 2 levels deephttp://www.zaphaber.com/isaac-tutumlu-mesut-ozil-kurd-e-28966h.htm

I really believe that the reason why he is not making his origin public is because of pressure from German political class. They love to use Özil as a prime example of "Turkish integration". And they don't want to lose him as example for a Kurd-Turk conflict. In fact they hope to gain more Turkish support for German national team and integration. Now imagine it came out he is Kurd. How many Turks do you think would look up to him?

Heval you can watch the videos on youtube where he is visiting his family in Zolguldak. Nothing Kurdish about them. Their dialect and accent is so pure Turkish and they look pure Turkish too. Zonguldak is not known to be any Kurdish anyhow. I am not denying he could be Kurdish but he would have to say it with his own words... And I understand the political that you are saying and I agree with it. Never looked at it that way.
Bro I have seen the video of his family. You do realize that Zonguldak as many provinces in Turkey were settled by Kurds? His family looked and spoke as much fluent Turkish as Kurds from Central Anatolia I know. His family regardless of his ancestry looked very like coming from somewhere around Gurugum, Malatya orn even Mardin. Also there are so many sources indicating it. I saw this Guys pick with the German coach Jogi Löw. WHY should Jogi Löw lie about his origin?

Bra i dont know. I am originally from Gurgum area and I we now live in Central Anatolia, and I know no one who looks like them. Neither in Central Anatolia. I would know it because people around us would know if anyone from our tribe or the other tribes settled in Zonguldak. But again, maybe it is so long ago, maybe you are right.

Save Kobani and Shingal!

Guys you have to take into account that Turk is a fake nationality, so it really doesn't matter anyway. ;)

I have to agree with Kurdistano, he looks like an Anatolian Kurd.

i belive he is a kurd.

in germany they celebratet him in tv always as the brilliant turk and the turkish nazis attacked him often because he decided for the german national team. and i agree with kurdistano that he looks kurdish, because i met some kurds looking like him. i dont mean his eyes, this is probably a disease (Hyperthyroidism). my opinion is, he fears to say he is kurdish, because of german TV.

nevertheless, i dont like özil. even if he is a kurd, he fears to say he is kurdish so their is no reason to be proud of him

Osama is a great player along with ahmad yasin. But unfortunately these talents may soon disappear because they chose to play for i-rack whom do not know how to preserve these kind of talents.

I hope they will be called up for Kurdistan National Football Team in the upcoming tournaments.
It sounds like they have any choice. Kurdistan currently is not a choice over i-rack simply cause Kurdistan is not part of FIFA. So they can play for i-rack and Kurdistan, both.

It is sad, really sad considering that Kurdistan among the nations in the Middle East has one of the best young talents in their ranks yet these Talents have not the chance to play for their country. And the result is that they have to chose for other countries. recently Deniz Naki who is totally pro Kurdish stated. that he has no chances anymore to play for the German national so he things about to run on the field for the Turkish team since he has to thing about his career too. He also said that he is the only one who stated his Kurdish identity and would be the only one so far if he runs on the field for the Turkish team. How many talents are running on the field for Iranian, i-racki and Turkish team? Why is KRG not able to become part of FIFA and give these Kurdish talents the chance to run on the pitch for Kurdistan?

I have seen the Syrian, Lebanese, i-racki, Iranian and other squads. They are really not above(most probably even under) what Kurdistan has to offer among talents and internationally active players.

I do also believe there will be a chance for Kurds who have previously played for other teams to chose Kurdistan for the future since this is something special and Kurdistan didn't exist in FIFA back than.

Yes if Kurdistan becomes a country, then those players will still be able to play for Kurdistan as it is their native country. But we can still call them up for the VIVA tournaments and friendly matches.

As I stated VIVA is no compare to FIFA and it is organized only for ethnic people without a official country. This is why many Catalans play for the Catalan team as well for Spanish team.

FIFA is the only real big thing for professional Footballers.

I don't know about Osama, but at least Ahmed Yasin doesn't seem to feel any proudness towards his kurdish ancestry. I have watched several interviews with the guy, both on arabic and swedish, and I have never heard him mention Kurdistan or Kurds once.
