I don't believe that is true. I've never heard of that interview. He's a Turk. The reason why he doesn't want to join the Turkish national team, was because when he was younger (around 16-18 I think), him and his father went to Turkish clubs in hope of him getting accepted to one team, but no Turkish club wanted him.

So one day, a big German club wanted him, and he became a professional player. He was asked to join the Turkish national team when he got better and older, but he refused. Because why go to a more worse team, that didn't even want him in the first place?

Afterwards people called him a Kurd (as an insult). Since then the rumor has been spread and still to this day, people believe it.

This is what I have been told and have read about.

What about Özil. Many Kurds say he is Kurdish.
There is someone who knows Jogi Löw (German coach) he sees him often in Stuttgart and he said, Mesut Özil is half Kurd (I believe the father of him).

@Tevger also Ekrem Dag said that Özil is Kurd. And not only him also according to Isaac Tutumlu, who lives in Barcelona, Özil is Kurd.

http://www.zaphaber.com/isaac-tutumlu-mesut-ozil-kurd-e-28966h.htm

I really believe that the reason why he is not making his origin public is because of pressure from German political class. They love to use Özil as a prime example of "Turkish integration". And they don't want to lose him as example for a Kurd-Turk conflict. In fact they hope to gain more Turkish support for German national team and integration. Now imagine it came out he is Kurd. How many Turks do you think would look up to him?

özil is far away from looking kurdish but according to this fan page:http://www.mesut-ozil.net/mesut/facts/
"Özil is a a third-generation Turkish-German, of Kurdish descent. His father Mustafa, moved to Germany at the age of 2 and his ancestors are from Northern Turkey."

ARSENAL CHASING HEERENVEEN KID REWAN AMIN

Arsenal are chasing SC Heerenveen prospect Rewan Amin.

The 17 year-old midfielder is yet to turn pro at Heerenveen and his exploits have attracted enquiries from Arsenal, Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.

Amin, as an amateur, can leave his Dutch club for a modest training fee.

Rewan Amin plays for Netherlands under 16.

Osama is a great player along with ahmad yasin. But unfortunately these talents may soon disappear because they chose to play for i-rack whom do not know how to preserve these kind of talents.

I hope they will be called up for Kurdistan National Football Team in the upcoming tournaments.

Heval you can watch the videos on youtube where he is visiting his family in Zolguldak. Nothing Kurdish about them. Their dialect and accent is so pure Turkish and they look pure Turkish too. Zonguldak is not known to be any Kurdish anyhow. I am not denying he could be Kurdish but he would have to say it with his own words... And I understand the political that you are saying and I agree with it. Never looked at it that way.
