Baghdad and KRG agree for Peshmerga to stay in disputed regions 16.06.2014 The Iraqi government has announced its agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to allow Peshmerga (military forces) to remain in the disputed territories. In a press conference the Iraqi National Security Advisor Falah al-Fayyad said that Baghdad and the Kurdistan Confederation had agreed for the Peshmerga to remain in disputed regions, including Kirkuk and Mosul. “Peshmerga forces are legal and registered in the list of Iraqi security forces, and Baghdad and Erbil have agreed for them to protect Iraqi security and strike back against ISIS in the near future,” said Fayyad. Earlier this week, KRG Peshmerga Ministry ordered for the Kurdish forces not to leave the disputed regions. http://basnews.net/en/News/Details/Baghdad-and-KRG-agree-for-Peshmerga-to-stay-in-disputed-regions/23501 We do not need to agree with them, there is no we, its us and us alone protecting our lands from anyone who wants to occupy it again.... |

They are a joke man. They make towns blue just because there are some christian guards for the churches. It's like to say Baghdad is under Kurdish control because there are some Kurdish guards protecting Kurdish offices there. Of course north Ninewa areas are all under Peshmerga control, even their own sources don't deny that, it must be just a Assyrian Internet warrior who change that. Somebody should change that. |

Iraqi TV claims that Kurdistan is still insisting on article 140 and will only leave Kurdish territory if it is implemented. I don't know if this is true but for Gods sake, do your own Referndum and annex it already. |

Documentary is 7 years old. They show South-Korean Zaytun division, they left in 2008. They show the airport being constructed, it has been finished long time ago. The mega mall project has been finished long time ago. They say Peshmerga consists of 80,000 fighters, it's 200,000 now. The interview with Barzani is old, he's talking about attacking Turkey, this was like 6-7 years ago. They show fuel shortage problem, was also 6-8 years ago, solved now. Roads are not constructed; is solved. Erbil trench basics; is now even more powerful/upgraded. This is not a ''fresh'' documentary, they've just copied and pasted old footage and uploaded it today. Video is extremely outdated. |

Peshmerga Control All Kurdish Territories in South Kurdistan Kurdish security forces in Jalawla By Nawzad Mahmoud SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Confederation - Kurdish forces are in control of all their claimed but disputed territories in Nineveh and Kirkuk, but facing a harder task in Diyala which is a stronghold of armed Islamist groups in Iraq, Kurdish officials said. Large parts of Nineveh province, including the capital Mosul, fell into the hands of the extremist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) last week, among them areas that fall within the “disputed territories” claimed by both the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the central government in Baghdad. After the Iraqi army beat a hasty retreat and deserted en masse, the Kurds moved into areas left vacant by the fleeing soldiers. “The Kurds have regained all of their conquered lands in Nineveh,” said Muhammed Ihsan, the KRG representative in Baghdad. “In the province, 100 percent of the taken areas have been retained by the Peshmerga forces” he said. Out of nearly 36,000 square kilometers that make up Nineveh, “14,666 square kilometers are now under the control of the Peshmerga forces, and out of the hand of the Iraqi army and ISIS,” he said. “Nineveh is the only province in which all the Kurdistani areas have been back in to the hands of the Peshmerga forces,” he added. In Kirkuk, Governor Najmaldin Karim told Rudaw: “Now, 70 percent of Kirkuk is under the control of the Kirkuk security forces, which are Peshmerga, Asayish (Kurdish security forces) and police. A Peshmerga commander from Kirkuk told Rudaw that his forces are capable of defending all the areas under their control, but not without “headaches.” “In Hawija, Zab, Rashad, and Abasiya it is very difficult for Peshmerga forces to remain there without headaches. That is because these areas have been a terrorist safe haven, and they know the area very well,” he said, speaking on condition of anonymity. “Fights are still ongoing in Hawija, Zab, Abasiya, and Rashad districts, which make up 3,000 square kilometers,” confirmed Awat Muhammed, a member of the Kirkuk Provincial Council. Kurdish officials said that the Peshmerga forces were facing a more difficult time advancing in eastern Diyala province which, because of its rugged terrain of mountains and deserts, has been a stronghold of various armed groups for the past 11 years. “Even within Jalawla city, which is under Peshmerga control, there are still ISIS fighters” in certain neighborhoods, said Anwar Hussein, the mayor of the district. “Due to the dense orchards, Peshmerga forces will not be able to clear the area out easily,” he told Rudaw by telephone, as gunshots could be heard in the background. Diyala province stretches over more than 19,000 square kilometers, with 87 percent of the area classified as disputed territories. In a recent statement to Rudaw Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US ambassador to Iraq, said that the Kurds did not have a land issue anymore because they have gained all the lands they wanted. http://rudaw.net/english/kurdistan/170620141 |

1974 Late Mustafa Barzani didn’t Compromise on Kirkuk; the Kurds leadership mustn’t do it now June 17, 2014 The opportunity doesn’t come too often; now all emblematic are for grab to reclaim Kurdish land, that has been rightful realm, and therefore, this opportunity shall not be missed, as like previous’ had been; in particular at the end of World War I, at the capitulation of Ottoman Empire. It is time for unity; it is not time for divisiveness, the national interest must be above realpolitik, political parties and its leadership must not disappoint future generation, this historical opportunity. Concession on Kirkuk issue along with all other areas of the Kurdish territory in Iraq shall be nonnegotiable with concerning parties whether that will be Shi’ite political parties Arab or Sunni Arab. It is a very well known expression; “freedom is not free” Therefore, Kurds must be ready for any future eventuality to sustain any burden and recompense any price. Today’s political environment nationally and internationally are far more suitable then during Barzani’s period in 1974 but he still was not willing to accept yielding on the Kurds territory to Baghdad, even though then and later as well, many pundits disputed that scenarios, they said Barzani should had made some kind of concession to then powerful dictator vice president Saddam Hussein. “The idea of dividing Iraq along ethno-sectarian lines dates almost all the way back to its formation at the end of World War I, when the country was carved out of the former Ottoman Empire. In 2006, it had a resurgence, when then Senate Foreign Relations Committee chair, and now Vice President, Joe Biden suggested in a New York Times op-ed essay that semi-autonomous sections should be created along sectarian lines. “The idea, as in Bosnia, is to maintain a united Iraq by decentralizing it, giving each ethno-religious group — Kurd, Sunni Arab and Shiite Arab — room to run its own affairs, while leaving the central government in charge of common interests.” A year later Biden pursued the theme, telling the senate on April 24, 2007, that then President George W. Bush’s centralized plan for Iraqi governance would set Iraq up with problems for years to come. “The most basic premise of President Bush’s approach, that the Iraqi people will rally behind a strong central government headed by Maliki, in fact, will look out for their interests equitably, is fundamentally and fatally flawed. It will not happen in anybody’s lifetime.” – The New York Times. “Iraq (the old vilayets of Baghdad and Basra) was detached from the Ottoman Empire at the end of the First World War. Britain, the mandate power, eventually annexed the oil-rich Kurdish vilayet of Mosul. In 1922, a joint Iraqi- British declaration -recognized the Kurds’ right to form a Kurdish Government within the Iraqi frontiers”- (people without Country- Gerard Chalian) Baghdad not implementing article 140 of Iraqi constitution row between Baghdad and Hewlêr (Erbil); as Iran’s support for Maliki’s government is understandable, Iran exerts its influence through their proxies in the region in particular Shi’ite political parties. The quick of disintegration of Iraqi army has raised international concerns it might quickly spreading regional crisis; Historical rivalry between Iran which supported Shias and Turkey supported Sunni. The sudden collapse of the Iraqi army on June 11/12, in Mosul and its surrounding areas; it resembles the Taliban movement in 1996, that took over Afghanistan and its Capital Kabul. The Iraqi leader misguided vision Shia who undemocratic and sectarian policies formulated by Iranian theocrats; most likely has caused the row spectrum among Iraqi different political parties; without Iranian in Iraqi internal affair most likely they would have found some common understanding. U.S. President Barrack Obama’s speech on the Iraq issue: “In the absence of this type of political effort, short term military action, including any assistance we might provide won’t succeed.” It appears it was politically weak speech: For years United States has spent Blood and treasures to assist Iraq to stand on its feet, Obama‘s lax foreign policy allowing Iran to play vital role it will create chaos further, ( Under Obama presidency- It appears Iraq is disintegrating further, China is bullying its neighboring countries in south east Asia, Russia invaded part of Ukraine- Crimea and destabilizing the other parts of Ukraine, Syria has become stalemate; Libya is in the status of Chaos, Egypt went back to its iron fist policy, Southern Sudden is in jeopardy, some NATO members not heeding his policy; and domestic policy not too rosee either: Economy still weak, majority of American disagree on “Health care” programs, emigration reform law is not passing by the US Congress; this is just predication, at the end his term, Obama will use his executive option issue amnesty for all illegal immigrants, list but not the last only his social assistances are good ). As a Kurd no body will liberate us but us; no one will fight for us but us, no one will defend us but us. For years’ experience has showed us not trust by the past, in no way predicting of the future, but Baghdad approved not to be trusted, and Kirkuk not to be negotiable (Ay Reqib).
