Thanks to heval Alan we can use this section to post things about kurdish culture - it will be usefull specially for foreign guest who search for that kind of info. I am starting with music, but we can make also topics about food, customs and habits, religion etc. Let me start then with music. I would like this topic to be used to post a songs which are telling about Kurdistan, its oppression and fighting for freedom. I think we should start from "Ey Raqib". In kurdish (Sorani dialect) : Ey raqîb her mawe qewmî Kurd ziman, Nay sikên danery topî zeman Kes nelê Kurd mirduwe Kurd zîn duwe, Zîn duwe qet nanewê alakeman Ême roley rengî sûr û soris în, Seyrîke xuênawiya raburdûman Kes nelê Kurd mirduwe Kurd zîn duwe, Zîn duwe qet nanewê alakeman Ême roley Midya û Keyhusrew în, Dînîman û ayînman her Kurdistan Kes nelê Kurd mirduwe Kurd zîn duwe, Zîn duwe qet nanewê alakeman Lawî Kurd hestaye ser pê wek dilêr, Ta be xuên nexsîn deka tacî jiyan Kes nelê Kurd mirduwe Kurd zîn duwe, Zîn duwe qet nanewê alakeman Lawî Kurdî hazir û amadeye, Giyan fîdan e, giyan fîda her giyan fîda Giyan fîdan e, giyan fîda her giyan fîda!!! EY REQÎB (kurmandji) Ey reqîb her maye qewmê Kurd ziman Naşikê û danayê topê zeman. Kes nebê Kurd dimirin Kurd jîn dibin. Jîn dibin, qet nakeve ala kurdan. Em xortên rengê sor û şoreşin Seyr bike xwîna tîya me da rijand. Kes nebê Kurd dimirin Kurd jîn dibin. Jîn dibin, qet nakeve ala kurdan. Em xortên Medya û Keyxusrewin Dîn îman û ayînman, her niştiman Dîn îman ayînman, Kurd û Kurdîstan. Kes nebê Kurd dimirin Kurd jîn dibin. Jîn dibin, qet nakeve ala kurdan. Lawê Kurd rabûye ser pê, wek şêran Ta bixwîn nexşîn bike tacî jiyan. Kes nebê Kurd dimirin Kurd jîn dibin. Jîn dibin, qet nakeve ala kurdan. Xortên nûh tev hazir û amade ne Can fîda ne can fîda, her can fîda ! ENGLISH TRANSLATION: Hey Guard, the Kurdish nation is alive, its language is yet spoken We shall not be defeated by the weapons of any time Let no one say Kurds are no more The Kurds are alive The Kurds are alive, their flag will never fall We, the youth are the red colour of the revolution Look how much blood we have been forced to shed Let no one say Kurds are no more The Kurds are alive The Kurds are alive, their flag will never fall We are the children of the Medes and Kai Khosrow(Cyaxares) Both our faith and religion are our homeland Both our faith and religion are Kurd and Kurdistan Let no one say Kurds are no more The Kurds are alive The Kurds are alive, their flag will never fall The Kurdish youth have risen like lions To adorn the crown of life with blood Let no one say Kurds are no more The Kurds are alive The Kurds are alive, their flag will never fall The Kurdish youth are ever present and Forever will be ready to sacrifice our lives They will sacrifice each life they have, each life they have! |

Thank you heval, our rap for Kurdistan is really touching. My second national song is "Her Kurd buin u her Kurd debin". I am posting both videos, as one have important images concerning Kurdistan history and the other one has subtitles of lyrics in latin writing (first one has in sorani, but nt very clear, hand made). Below i posted lyrics in sorani (might be some mistakes, apology) - but i dont feel strong enough to translate them to english - so if any of my brothers/sisters can translate - would be appreciated.

Zakaria song "Kurdistan" has a special meaning for me. It was one of the first songs that came to my heart. Some few years ago it happened that i was sitting all alone in the four walls of my room at the New Years eve, when all the poeple were having fun and celebrate together. But i was listen to kurdish music and at midnight, when all the fireworks were flashing in the night sky - i listen to this song and i didnt feel lonely or sad - i feel proud and strong. The sorani text was once written for my request by one of my brothers (cant remember who it was, sorry) - one part which is probably in Badhini is missing - translation to english is provided on the video:
