No Peshmerga isn't active. There are many Kurds from Mandali who migrate back and forth from Baghdad to visit Kurdish quarters, as us Faylis living in Baghdad have close connections with them. If you think Mandali is poor, you haven't seen Kirmanshan or much worse Kurdish quarters in Baghdad.

Yes almost all cities in EK are poor, It is the result of years of persian occupation.

However, I have not seen the Kurdish areas in Baghdad. All my relatives were deported from Baghdad in the 80's..

Well EK is not poor because of Persian occupation, it has always been poor. If you mean un-developed, well it has been like that for 800+ years, but yes Iran does cut from fiscal budget in EK greatly. I do not mind EK being mostly agriculture, actually I like it like that, we have less pollution and better quality of life. However lack of education and healthcare is a grave concern.

Yes alot of my family aswell in the 80s and 90s were deported or executed.

To be honest, I found these pictures from some random facebook album. It said that it was Mandali on the pictures. But you are right, I can not be sure since I've never seen the city before.

I also thought it was strange with all the Kurdish flags (since Mandali is not officially part of the KRG).

That's the same with Khanaqin and Kirkuk. Not part of KRG, but still Kurdish flags everywhere. :)

yeah but Kirkuk and Khanaqin is different, they are run by kurds and Peshmerga are there, but Mendeli has 0 Peshmerga presence, so this could be Jalawla or Sadiya, sub districts of Khanaqin.

It's not strange, because there is an Iraqi flag aswell, trust me Kurds in Mandali are pro-KRG.

No doubt Kurds are pro KRG in Mendeli but Maliki will not allow kurdish flag he tried it officially in even Khanaqin and we all saw the rage from Khanaqinis, he thought them been Shia will support him but he was shocked for his life.

Last year Hero Ibrahim visited the district but I assure you jj Mendeli is under Maliki control you have Jalawla in between which is also under their control so let alone Mendeli.

Peshmerga actually took it back in 2003 but the US asked us to retreat we should have not listened :smackhead

You are mixing two things up. PDK can have kurdish flag on "it's party building" but can not have its peshmerga walking around in uniform in the streets

That is what that photo is showing us and I'm 100% that is not Mendeli we have no Pêshmerga there as much as I wish it was true but it ain't

yeah but do you think maliki militia will let Kurdish flags to be raised on streets, runabouts or houses !? i doubt it, hell he tried his luck wiht Khanaqin a 95% Kurdish majority city and of course he got the shock of his life but he still tried it, image in an area there is no Pesh or an area where kurds are minority.

Aside from the flags, how can we be absolutely sure that it really isn't Mendeli?

If that's not Mendeli which city is it then? :S

What is so hard to get heval gyan !?, if peshmerga is not in a Town village or city then the maliki militias will not allow Kurdish flag ti be raised except kurdish political party buildings. They have done that in jalawla let alone Mendeli which isolated from mainland KRG.

Milki tried moving Kurdish flags from Khanaqin which is under KRG and does have Peshmerga and 0 milki force what chance Mendeli has ?

If Mendelians want their region annexed they need to show it throu demos media press etc... I'm sure then KRG will think of something for them. As far as I know it's not even a Kurdish majority town no more as saddam deported most and the rest have left for Baghdad lately to Khanaqin.

For example Saddam also deported us kirkukis but after 2003 we all returned did the Menedlians do that ? I don't think they have.

Asking to make Mendeli annexed to KRG by force is the same with doing so with Kirkuk Hawija you make it sound like I don't want it to be part of KRG I know it's historically Kurdish so is Hawja but I'm afraid they are both lost to Arabs. Even the menedlians have abandoned their own town now Kurds are minority there.
