Can any of our kurmandji family tell me how to say "Republic of Kurdistan" in Kurmandji? I need to put it in both dialects on thecover of my passport.

Well, there are so many of them that the cover of my passport would be too small to include all. I just concentrate on two main ones - as they are going to be consider in the future unified language of Independent Greater Kurdistan.

Kurdistan isn't Kurmanji Sorani, it is all the other Kurdish tribes and dialects. They will all be considered in the Kurdish language.

Heval, i know - its not that i dont respect other dialects - i just want to write on the cover on my passport in two most used by the majority, if i will write the entire cover with all our dialects - nobody will pay attantion to that, as people may think its just for fun - but i want to make clear for people that my passport belongs to Republic Of Kurdistan and i want to use two main languages and two main scripts for that. I hope you understand what i mean.

And i still wait for translation.

Sergel sounds better than serok. It is also an older version.

Also Şaristan means city and is the older version and sounds much better :)

Hevalê Alî Alqoş, do you know what does şar mean ? Just to know. :)

I think we should use both words, Kurdish is a so rich language : there's dozen of words for saying "work" and at least four for "carpet". haha

Nevertheless it's true Sergel souds more democratic, maybe we should use Sergel for a State's President and Serok for the other kind of president if there's no already word to say this. But I'm absolutely not linguist man at all...

Some would consider it rich but I think there are too many differences and we should stop using arabic, turkish and persian words :)

No heval I do 't know what şar means?

Keke are you kurmanci or zazaki? and are you elewi? :)

My father is a kurmancî speaker whereas my mother is a zazakî.
I've sunnite and alevi origins but I'm atheist for my part.

Yes but we must wait for our independence to have a great Kurdish academy which will fix our beautiful language.

I don't know. Otherwise I wouldn't ask it hevalo.

However I've just found in my Kurdish dictionary :
'-şarandin (bişarîne) : to heat
-şaredê : small town, important village
-şarevanî : municipality
-şaristan : city
-şaristanî : urban
-şaristanî : townsman
-şarmend : civilized
-şarsaniyetî : civilization'

So I think it's clearly related to 'civilization' and hence 'fire' have made all of the civilization 'şar' would mean this.
