I think people of Duhok know less about Kerkûk (as people and city) than Sulemani and Hewlêr . Maybe that is Because of distance?
Yes I went to Kerkûk with my father. He has one friend which lived in Europe, Now he is back to his city Kerkûk. :D

Damn, in duhok live yezidis and then they set this text i mean come on this isn't evil or racist or something but those islamic parties want all civilians of whole south kurdistan to be islamic in their future islamic state. I hope that on the next elections kurdistan is more progressed, and that there will be less votes for these filthy "islamic" parties. Ask them 1 thing: Would you like to set strict sharia law in south kurdistan? That question will answer everything. It will answer that they are racist, brutal, and want to islamify everybody.

It was a process that took many years. After the chemical attack on Halabja, Saudi Arabia donated millions of dollars to the town. The thing was, all those dollars had to be used to build mosques and pay Imams or Mullahs working in the mosques.
As you know, Halabja got hundreds of kids that had lost their parents and could not fend for themselves after the attack. These children sought refuge in the mosques, where they were pretty much brainwashed.

I remember an interview with a Kurdish Jihadist in Syria, where he actually admitted he had lost his family in the gas attack and sought refuge in the mosque (and then went on to saying that god talked to him every night in the mosque, that god had showed him the right way and a lot of other religious comments).

In short, Saudi Arabia capitalized on the gas attack to get a Islamic stronghold in Kurdistan from whom it could later draw fighters for its proxy wars.

And then of course the Islamic enclave of Kurdistan in the 90s to 2003 highly influenced the Islamic view in Halabja, further radicalizing the town. Before the gas attack, Halabja was actually a very liberal and secular town.

But this is the wrong topic for that :P

By the way, that Garden looks like a private garden / mosque garden. It's not a public park lol. Looks only like that because the photo captures the entire city (look at the walls).

I bet they've removed it now after Daesh etc.
