Speaking of James Bond here's "Little Nellie" from "You Only Live Twice".

Those little Auto-gyro's in the KRG inventory can be weaponized just like this.

Sabra M60A3 Main Battle Tank Upgrade, Israel (I wonder if Israel is regretting selling these to Turkey)
(Sabra = Hebrew informal slang term meaning born in Israel.)

Posted Image

The Sabra main battle tank is a modernised upgraded M60A3, developed by Israel Military Industries Slavin heavy weapons plant at Ramat Hasharon. As with all upgrade programmes the scope of a Sabra upgrade package is customised to meet a particular country's operational requirements. 170 Turkish Army M60 tanks are to be upgraded with the Sabra mkII package. The first prototype was delivered in November 2005. The first production tank was delivered in 2007. Delivery of the upgraded tanks was completed in 2009.

Sabra main battle tank armament

The Sabra's main armament is a 120mm smooth-bore gun, which is similar to the gun developed by Israel Military Industries (formerly TAAS) for the Merkava mk3 main battle tank. The gun is fitted with a fume extractor and a thermal sleeve for reduction of wear and to maximise the first round hit probability by reducing thermally induced distortion of the barrel. Stowage is provided for 42 rounds of ammunition.

"The Sabra is equipped with an automatic fire and explosion suppression system." The gun has greater range and armour-penetrating capability than the 105mm gun installed on the M60 MBT. The gun is capable of firing Nato-standard 120mm smooth-bore ammunition including armour-piercing fin-stabilised discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds. The co-axial machine gun is either 7.62mm or 5.56mm. The 60mm mortar system is supplied by Soltam Ltd based in Haifa.

If the Israeli's want an alliance with the KRG why doesn't the KRG go all out and ask for the Merkava Mk.3 (the Mk.4 is not for export). Since Israel is now an enemy of Turkey I would think the Israeli's would want to arm their friends with their best. The KRG needs to start thinking about the future and the possibility of going to war with their most savage and powerful enemies. With the breakup of Iraq and Syria there is a power vacuum and they would be wise to think about things like this.

The Merkava Mk.4 main battle tank entered service with Israel Defense Forces in 2004. It is a further development of the Merkava Mk.3. A total of 360 of these tanks have already been built and another 300 have been ordered by Israeli Defense Forces. In 2014 it was reported, that Israel will export a number of these tanks to an undisclosed customer. (I think the customer was Turkey but the deal fell through.) Currently the Merkava Mk.4 is among 10 best main battle tanks in the world.

The latest Merkava Mk.4 is slightly larger than the Mk.3. The new MBT is one of the most protected tanks in the world. It has a new armor, comparing with predecessor. Hull of the Merkava Mk.4 was redesigned to install new engine. A front-mounted engine also provided improved frontal protection. The Mk.4 is also fitted with new modular armor, that can be reconfigured to match specific threats. Bottom of the hull has been strengthened for better protection against land mines. This main battle tank can also be fitted with Trophy active protection system. Protection suite also includes advanced threat identification and warning system. This MBT is also well protected against air-launched guided missiles and top attack anti-tank weapons

The Mk.4 features an improved 120-mm smoothbore gun, developed by Israel Military Industries (IMI). It is a further development of the Merkava Mk.3 tank gun. This gun is designed to sustain higher pressure, generating higher muzzle velocity. This MBT can fire various 120-mm rounds, including LAHAT anti-tank missiles. Also it can fire all standard NATO munitions. Ten rounds are stored in electrically operated revolving magazine and are ready to fire at any time. Every single round is stored in a protective container, to protect the crew in case the ammunition explosion. Loader semi-automatically selects the ammunition type.

This main battle tank is equipped with new fire control system, that includes some very advanced features. One of them is a high hit probability firing against helicopters using conventional munitions. Secondary armament consists of 7.62-mm machine guns, and internally-operated 60-mm mortar. This main battle tank has a battle management system. It enables crew to plan missions, navigate and update their situation awareness. It also reports friendly units of enemy targets. Integrated battle management system combines tanks, anti-tank and artillery units and helicopters in a combined task force.

The Merkava Mk.4 has a crew of four, including commander, gunner, loader and driver. Furthermore it can transport eight troops or three stretcher casualties in place of the ammunition load. Troops enter and leave the vehicle threw the rear hatch. This main battle tank is powered by General Dynamics 883 V-12 diesel engine. It develops 1 500 horsepower and delivers 25% more power comparing with the previous 1 200 hp engine on the Merkava Mk.3. This engine was originally developed by German MTU, but it is license-built by General Dynamics Land Systems in USA. The same engine is used on the French Leclerc main battle tank. Engine pack and transmission are located at the front of the hull. It is a unique design, which allowed to free space for the troops or cargo at the rear of the hull. It can carry up to 10 troops, when ammunition is unloaded.

The Merkava Mk.4 currently is not offered for export, but some it's systems and components are available for export customers.
