Sweden's great little light tank/ tank destroyer that punches above its weight with a 120mm L/50 smoothbore. Stripped down it is also transportable by C130. http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/detail.asp?armor_id=458 ![]() |

I know. The best chance of buying weapons would probably be from non NATO countries like South Africa, Brazil, Romania or Serbia. Even Russia right now could be a possibility. Maybe talking to Russia would send a message to the western leaders and change their minds. Anything is possible at this point.

So getting a licence to build these things from one of these countries wouldn't be a problem. If there was an objection from NATO they could say it would be to replace losses. Its all about plausible deniability. Also all those old Russian tanks could be used as the basis for very modern upgrades. Bringing in experts on contract from Israel in order to teach your technicians. How could anyone object to that. This stuff is all do-able.

Kurds are nobody's because they refused to do anything about arming themselves since the beginning of the original "no fly zone". They knew they were surrounded by dangerous enemies but did nothing. This weakness was shown glaringly when they were attacked by ISIS and the Peshmerga nearly collapsed and now when they are being bombed by Turkey they should have been shooting down Turkish aircraft invading their airspace with anti-aircraft missiles. The KRG could have been the model and the leader of all Kurds in the region but instead the corrupt leaders of the KRG chose personal gain over the safety of their own people. Today they are at the mercy of the Turks who are bombing them on one side and the Iranians who are backing the murderous Shia Militia on the other. They have an army and the only thing it needs is the tools to defend itself and its people. Its never too late but so far the "leaders" of the KRG have shown no inclination to do so. This must be a source of endless frustration for anyone who can see what's going on but if the past is any indication the future doesn't hold much hope.
