Client: Nasri Group of Companies - NGC Country: Kurdistan Consultant: Middle East Corporation for Reconstruction & Inves Description: Commercial and Trade Center located in Hewlêr, total construction area of 1,000,000m2 and including 4 high rise towers and 34buildings of 34 floors. This center will be the new hub downtown integrated within the old city quarters and will centralize a huge mall, 9000 shops, 6000 offices and all related recreational and services area.

Nice project. But what I fear, from seeing all this projects in down-town Hewlêr, is the destruction of the historical centre! I know most of this buildings are from the 19th century or early 20th century (right?), but they represent the Kurdish lifestyle housing. I hope your government, or city hall, will preserve as much as it is possible of the historical centre. |

i actually don't think that they would allowed any one to build something that kills the view of the beautiful Qarat/Qala/Qalat you name it  heheh |

The project extends on an area of 120,000 m2 in the heart of the city of Hewlêr in the heart of its business area, in front of the historic fortress of Hewlêr, which dates back more than 4000 years BC. The project was designed by the most renowned consultancy firms in the Middle East, the best implementation measures were adopted in addition to a modern and distinctive architectural design. The project is one of the largest malls in the Middle East where the construction area covers a surface of 850000 m2. It includes around 8000 shops divided by themes and more than 4000 office apartments, a parking lot which can accommodate 5000 cars approximately. The center also includes a full storey of restaurants, cafeterias and other catering services. The project is considered one of the architectural and urban features in the same time. also it is distinguished upon its location area and investment . The land is located in Shekalla district between Nishtiman square Baghdad destination route chragh cemetery and Saidawa Bridge. NGC were seeking the help from distinguished consultants to implement plans and design solutions to improve the economical social demographical and cultural and tourism aspects of the city. The main objective of the project under construction is to operate physical and urban land infill and to raise the land performance in shekalla district by creating commercial facilities of individual wholesale market including all the related services and fields. The project started in 2002 and the first phase of it was completed and launched in February 2007, followed by the second phase in November 2008 . Nishtiman commercial complex consists of 12,000 commercial units spread over northern part and southern part . The southern part consists of nine floors, including two underground dedicated parking, and three floors of shops (the market), and four floors of commercial offices . The northern part of the project, which overlooks on the Square and Castle of Hewlêr consists of seven-storey, three-storey for shopping mall and four floors for offices use. ln conclusion, we hope that the trade center project opens new horizons for the future of the city of Hewlêr and that the facade of the ancient heritage and identity of the local contemporary architect.
