Hello all, I've heard a lot about Kurds in the news lately. I came across this forum awhile ago, I found it via Google when I was looking for information about a specific law in the KRG. I've been browsing this forum for a while and I have noticed a lot of Kurdish forum members with scary Islamic signatures and videos with Islamic songs. I also noticed how the user ''RawandKurdistan'' is quite extreme. He compares Israel to Turkey and objectifies women. To be honest, his opinions/views on life scare me a little bit, he reminds me of those Islamists/terrorists you see on TV. So my question is: Is this how all Kurds are? I hope the news is not just trying to make Kurds look good because of our government's interest in the region/resources, but some of the things I've read on this forum are terrifying. Could the media be portraying you like liberal/modern? I also noticed that he is a moderator on this forum, he probably got that position because he reflects the opinion of the majority of the Kurds? I think of linking this forum to Reddit and the like because I believe it's important that people see how people really are. I hope I am wrong. |

Hi and welcome to forum. First of all please introduce your self in "New Member" thread. If you have followed the news lately like you say, you will find out that a random guy in a Kurdish forum is not what describes the Kurdish nation but rather the news you have watched lately. Kurds are made up of difference cultures and religion believes with most of them being Muslims who are modern and not extreme or terrorists which can be reflected in the news you have recently seen. Also the Kurdish government and its people in South Kurdistan(KRG) opposite any extreme Islam moves or groups. This is an open forum and we have members with difference believe which all are welcome. We do not allow any form of sympathy to any terrorist groups or moves. The member RawandKurdistan is not a moderator on this forum and if you see any members who are acting against forum rules or offend you please use the report button and the mod will take care of it. I hope you will enjoy you stay on our forum and learn more about the Kurds ![]() |

LoL, who Is this guy? lol Mate I'm a moderate religious person, as a Muslim should be, don't be surprised If you find plenty of my kind, you have no Idea about how extreme an actual extremist would be. Note 1: Both the Israeli and Turkish authorities have dirty hands, or are you so blind that you only look at the crimes committed against Kurds, while ignoring those that aren't related to us? Note 2: If your definition of "moderate" Is to not be religious at all, then Kurdistan Isn't the society for you. But obviously we don't hunt down people that don't agree with us, that's not what this Is about either. Note 3: You want to know how Kurds are? The average Kurd Is very much like me, despite religious faith, the average Kurd (IN KURDISTAN) is practicing, the liberal lifestyle Is not appreciated among any Kurds expect those that want to settle in the West, you know, the kind of people that don't care about their own culture at all. Note 4: Do not EVER think this forum actually represents Citizens of Kurdistan, It represents Kurds outside of the homeland. Don't you think a Kurdish forum for Kurds in Kurdistan would be In Kurdish? Note 5: "Objectifies women" - Is this a joke? Like honestly, Isn't that what I strongly oppose? Women are only objectified in liberal societies. Note 6: Are you WorldWar2Boy?

I will be very honest with you, Kurds are not some sort of divine people where everyone is all nice & no extremists or anything bad at all. We like all other nations in the world have extremists, from far right to far left to religious extremists, we have them all, but religious extremists are a small minority, a very small one. There is 50 million of us so no doubt there will be different beliefs among us, but the majority do not hold any extreme views. Just try to understand we are just normal people, we also have our black sheep's here and their. As Alasha said the people in this forum dont represent the entire nation, but the people here are from all around kurdistan, we are a diverse people & extremists do exist just like they do in every other nation in the world. However most are just moderate muslims, very few hold the same beliefs as rawand i.e. sharia oreintated laws in kurdistan, also i would count rawand as an extremist lol he's jst passionate about his beliefs..

Get used to It, I'm not gonna live in the shadows with my religion just cause some people aren't comfortable with It. There's no Kurdistan without Islam. What do you want people to see? Do you wish to convince them of a religion-free Kurdistan, only for them to get a major surprise when they actually visit themselves?
