I'd say good communication equipment (and other equipment like helmets, night vision, body armor, first aid kits etc), sufficient amount of transport vehicles and a stable source of ammo remains among our biggest weaknesses, on top of the simple fact that the KRG forces are extremely divided and many formations, especially party brigades, are poorly trained. We were neglected for a decade by the US (the whole Peshmerga army got as much aid as 1 average Iraqi bgde did) and our own leadership (in which different individuals put their own personal interests before national interests), thus our army is in extremely poor shape. All the shiny toys in the world won't do much without a disciplined and well-trained force to handle them. Heck, we can't even effectively utilize the tools we already have now! We need new heavy weaponry, however, first we need to fix these issues (which should have been tackled long ago by our politicians!) |
