Hello everyone, there is a video-report of the training for Peshmerga officers in Germany online on the website of the german military. http://www.bundeswehr.de/portal/a/bwde/!ut/p/c4/NYyxDoMwDET_yE46lNINRIeuHdrSLRALLJEEWQaWfnyToXfSW97p8IO50e08OeUU3YJv7Ee-DgcMhycI26IcyLODnT0lJ-PMO8xEAidjz_gqB3k4pkhaqBSVMydxmgTWJLoUs4lkA-yxN7ZrbWX-sd-mena32tSX7t4-cA2h-QFt2lUM/ A rough translation would be about as follows: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video: Training with the reconnaissance-experts Munster, 09.03.2016, 16E15902. In the KRG, kurdish forces oppose the so-called 'islamic state'. The german army supports them with the know-how of its soldiers. Not only in the KRG, but also in Germany, they train kurds for their fight against the IS-terrorists. Aside of anti-tank-operations and the disarmament of IEDs, now also the topic of reconnaissance is on the program. A video team of the Bundeswehr has accompanied the first training-course. http://www.bundeswehr.de/contentDownload/download/1457516328388ENWj56HaVT9PJwp1RwIjxbWWR56HkUZjCQuDbSOlLLaCWOrWdWQ/Training_bei_den_Aufklaerungsprofis.mp4 (Video in lower quality than on the website) The video begins with a few scenes, then at 00:11, the narrator begins: "Training for Peshmerga in Germany. The Army Recon-Division in Munster trains Peshmerga in reconnaisance for the fight against international terrorism." Then at 00:22, a Peshmerga speaks about the importance of the training, the original are still audiable. At 00:44 the narrator continues: "28 Peshmerga officers and seargants learn about field reconnaisance with simple means in Munster. For the most part, the german instructors train the kurdish comrades in camouflage, building hidden positions and reconnaisance on foot. The soldiers of the Kurdish Security Forces come from eight regions and all are from different units." From 01:15, a german officer speaks: "We hope that the men we train here will take home so much knowledge, that they can pass on their knowledge to their comrades in the KRG. So that the entire kurdish forces can benefit in field-reconnaisance." From 01:22, the narrator continues: "The Peshmerga have come to Germany with widely different levels of experience. Everything from staff-officer to sniper is present. Two-thirds of the men have combat experience. All are very eager and quick to learn." From 01:44, the Peshmerga speaks again. If his words can't be made out, I can provide a separate translation, but I suspect the kurdish original may be better, if it can be made out, than a retranslation from German to English. From 02:01, the narrator continues: "All german instructors already have been on abroad-assignments and are used to work with interpreters, so there is no barrier-of-understanding between the cultures." From 02:12, the Peshmerga speaks, as with the other cases, I can do a retranslation, though if the original can be made out, it would likely be better and catch nuances, the translator perhaps missed." From 02:19, the narrator speaks again: "Whether it is about the building of hideouts or surprising contact with enemy forces, in combat exercises, it shows what the kurdish soldiers have already learned and what still needs to be worked on. With that the training center in Munster has layed the basics for strengthening the Peshmerga in their fight against the so-called 'islamic state'." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With best regards, Chatulio |
