Erbil - Three tram designer companies are constructing tram ways in the cities of Sulaimani Erbil and Duhok in the autonomous Kurdistan region.

Omed Mahamd, Speaker of Roads & transport Ministry said: "a tram way will be constructed to connect all 3 Kurdistan's provinces together". he added noting "KRG has provided the necessary budget for the project which will be completed in 2 stages".

"after 11 companies were bidding on the project, in the end 3 companies won the contract, the project will cost 8 billion Dinars (7 million USD) which will commence very shortly. Erbil's tram will be 60 kms long which will be done by an Italian company. Sulaimani one is 50 kms long constructed by another Italian company and Duhok's 45 km tram by a Romanian company" he stated.

He also stated that all 3 companies (Tecnopolo F.G ,Terra Nova and (S.G.I.)) are major tram system designers and biulders with solid proven experiences.

Russian Girenak Joseph, who visited Kirkuk in Kurdistan as a part of his tour throu the 1870 - 1873 AD, who published the results of his trip & his studies later in 1879, in the 4th volume in the Bulletin of the Caucasus department of the Royal Geographical Russian Society estimated Kirkuk's population as many as 12-50,000 people, & he emphasized that except 40 Christian families, the rest of the population were Kurds. As for The Turkmen & Arabs, they have not been already existed at the time.
